Il Poggiolo, the first high end Italian restaurant in Hinsdale, was conceived of as a lively urbane public place that accommodates families and business people for lunch and dinner. The tall 20 foot space, originally a theater, contains a large bar facing an oversized mirror where diners are reflected beyond. Seating on the balcony overlooking the main dining area maintains the sense of theatricality. The kitchen was located under the balcony and open to the bar area to activate the spacious ground level.
